Kate Middleton simply used a special device during a surprise appearance with Prince William.
On Monday, Aug. 11, the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 42, released a video message in assistance of Team Great Britain as the 2024 Olympics came to a close. While Prince Williams new facial hair and scruffy appearance rapidly created buzz, fans likewise focused on a subtle precious jewelry swap on Middletons hand.
In place of her renowned sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring, Kate used a gold band encrusted with white diamonds and sapphires– a more casual alternative to the engagement ring that once belonged to Williams late mother, Princess Diana.
The new device, a thick gold ring studded with sapphires and diamonds, is thought to be a pledge ring from William, offered to his partner throughout their early love while they were trainees at the University of St. Andrews in the early 2000s.
According to the website Dress Like a Duchess, long before Prince William proposed with his moms famous sapphire and diamond engagement ring in 2010, he gave Kate this pearl and garnet increased gold guarantee ring similar to the Victorian rose gold band, embellished with pearls and garnet– signifying their birthstones– which appeared in the video. (The pearls represent Williams June birthday, and the garnet symbolizes Kates January birthday.).

Kate initially used this ring in June 2005 on her graduation day from St. Andrews, where she made a degree in art history. At that time, she used the ring on her middle finger throughout her youth. The ring signified “commitment and fidelity along with a pledge for long-lasting love and loyalty,” according to Dress Like a Duchess.
Tatler kept in mind that the garnet gemstones in the guarantee ring “are stated to represent commitment, and pearls are known to be a sign of innocence and pureness.”.
It isnt clear when Kate got her new eternity band, but some fans speculate it might have been a present from William to mark their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29.
