I can’t believe we are midway through August already! Where did our summer go?! My children start school imminently and so out comes the box of sensible lighter knitwear pieces for the early morning school runs (I say pretending I’m not excited for that). Don’t get me wrong, I love dressing for summer but I love transitional styling even more… August can be a very confusing month with high summer stock still in full flow, the tail ends of the mid-season sales and new-in autumn/winter pieces starting to take front & centre stage.

That being said, I get really, like really, excited about shopping this time of year. August and September are my favourite months for dressing; All of the lighter layers that allow you to dress a touch more playfully and of course that particular sweet spot moment of the knitwear and sandals combination.

This upcoming season it’s all about the silhouette of the denim for me, think strong sculptural shapes elevating your everyday jeans and tee look, which is my ultimate favourite. Before purchasing at this time of year I like to ask myself what way can I style this now and again in autumn/winter. I don’t really want to be splashing out on those high-summer pieces now, so it’s important to consider my current wardrobe and work out how many looks I can make with this particular piece. That way, I know what’s really worth investing in for the season ahead.

So, let’s cut to the chase and let you take a peek at my wish list that includes some of the pieces I have already taken the plunge on. I have a mix of items you can wear now and again when it gets slightly cooler. I hope you get lots of inspiration for the season ahead… I know I did!
